New from Pratt Davis: Walking on Holy Ground, Essays on Being Present to the Mystery of Life that Surround Us.

Walking on Holy Ground is a collection of individual essays, “that invite readers to look at the ordinary surroundings of their lives through a contemplative lens. The essays ask us to a slow read, not a quick read, where we can sit with, think about, and chew on the thoughts shared in them. Each essay gives us a glimpse of the Mystery that surrounds us and the Meaning that runs like a thread through our lives. We are asked to stop, look closely, and appreciate the world around us. We are encouraged to see below the surface of our lives and experience the Mystery and Meaning for ourselves.”

We added images by the author, stock photography and one of our own photos (page 5, New River) and provided cover and interior page design for the project.

First Glance at the Newest Book…

We’re busy this week with Meachele “Mothership” Montgomery’s exciting new book about her recent hike of the Colorado Trail.

News for Your Organization

We’re working, this week, on the Spring newsletter for Piney Creek United Methodist Church. This expanded edition features Christmas news and photos of their renovated kitchen area. The kitchen improvements are important to the church. The ladies host fundraising breakfasts in the fellowship hall and needed a more modern facility for their project.

ISI builds the newsletter and adds photography to images and text supplied by the Church. ISI authored, maintains and hosts the Charge website.

ISI also produces the newsletter for the Alleghany Historical – Genealogical Society. The quarterly newsletter contains historical photographs, research articles and current club news for members. ISI designs and produces the entire newsletter for AHGS from concept to printing. Additionally, ISI authored, maintains and hosts AHGS.org.

Newsletters inform, unite and motivate members. They also encourage new membership and donations. Newsletters are effective, in any format- printed, emailed, or on a website. Online, PDFs work very well as they can be formatted for optimum appearance, security and load times. Rotary Drawdown Tickets

This week, we printed the 300 tickets for Grayson National Bank and the Annual Rotary Club Drawdown.

For several years, we have supplied the Rotarians with the giant name list posters for the event.

Members of Alleghany Rotary Club sell 300 tickets for $100 each for the fundraiser. Each ticket is a chance for the Grand Prize of $5000.

After dinner, ticket stubs are drawn and each name is marked off the posters. While most folks obviously don’t win, every 25th ticket drawn does receive $100.

The Drawdown is a great fundraising project for the Rotary Club. Proceeds from the event go to fund the various projects in our community.

Thank You Grayson National Bank and Rotary of Alleghany for letting us help with this important fund raising event.

The Echos of Sparta Hi, 1947

The latest title from Star Route Books is Echos of Sparta Hi, a reprint of the 1947 Sparta High School yearbook, which was the second annual the school produced. The first annual was printed a decade before, in 1937.

The book includes all four High School grades and elementary school photos for everyone attending Sparta School that year.

The book is being re-published as a fundraiser for the Alleghany Historical Museum by the Alleghany Historical – Genealogical Society and is the first of several titles planned for release in 2016.

The 80-page, softcover book measures 8.5″ x 11″ and is printed on cream colored stock. It retails for just $12.50, and will be available at the Alleghany Historical Museum in Sparta, NC, when it re-opens in the Spring (March 31) and online at Shop.StarRoute.Net, and Amazon.
